I have 2 weekly writing blocks with a beloved friend who is also doing doctoral writing; there is delight in chatting about our lives prior to and after each pom period. I don't want to disappoint them or me by cancelling these times. This strategy has disciplined my use of time. Thanks for affirming the value of this strategy!
I'm in the editorial process of my first novel. My editor returned everything back to me the first week of November, and I told myself that I was going to take a break before I started on the revisions and get through the busy holiday season. It's now February 17 and I'm still procrastinating...
I need to find 'delight in the discipline'. Thank you for the gentle nudge.
I'm going to set a weekly writing goal and release myself from this slump.
I love the idea of rewarding myself, like going for a nice walk outside, or even enjoying a nice coffee with a friend. I know I can get there. xx
I relate to this! I've taken breaks that then become blocks.
You are so right to attach something rewarding, as Dan Pink says: turn that slump into a spark! As well as having a reward afterwards, think about something nice you can do at the beginning, to make the writing experience more joyful or at least less scary.

Good luck with the edits!
