Writing and rewriting can feel like you've dismantled an engine with no way to put it back together. We talk about getting through the muddle, why keeping going matters & offer to help you.
I read every word of your posts and there’s always a helpful take away nugget, plus they never fail to encourage me to keep going. I’ve just launched a Substack myself so it’s only now I realise how it works both ways - comments are indeed motivating. Please keep going with what you’re doing.
I'm in awe of the way you two keep writing and sharing all of your writerly wisdom. I know I've benefitted hugely from it (and still am). Looking forward to seeing what you do next!
Thank you - I needed to read this! 😄 So grateful for all your positive prompts over the past year. They have all been so helpful to foster a strong mindset and sense of community. Thanks for all the encouragement.
This is the exactly what I needed to hear today sitting amongst lots of broken parts with no manual. Thank you💕 I am always so grateful for your wonderful advice.
Ha, yes it really did feel like that so I sympathise! I think sometimes the only answer is to admit to yourself that it is a hard process and that getting stuck is part of that. I know that's not particularly helpful in your current predicament but while it might not feel like it now, you will find a way through if you keep going. Keeping going doesn't always mean grinding it out. My own version of 'keeping going' was to step away for a few weeks and let things mull over. It didn't feel very productive at the time as my natural reaction is to stick at things until they're 'solved'. Took a while - but it worked in the end. Good luck :)
Thank you for the encouragment. It's an obscure but important topic - I liken it to locating a needed part for a rare motorcycle! I am confident I can do this work because I am supported by like-minded community. I am grateful you and Bec contribute to my support!

Thank you Emma that means a lot :) Good luck with your own Substack endevors!

Needed this today, thank you Bec and Chris!
Thank you Kristine and thrilled it helped. We also needed it too 😂

Thank you Charlotte very kind of you. Keep going and good luck :)
I also find your content really helpful, succinct and most importantly real. Loved this para in particular:
"Two of us write it and we share an office and a life so that helps (sometimes)."
That sounds like an idea for your next book 😇🤔
Ha, that would be very meta! Writing a book about us writing a book 😂 Super to hear from you thanks for your comment - it means such a lot!
You found a useful analogy for my current reading and writing dilemma. Thank you for offering encouragement while I sit amongst all the parts!
