The magic of writing meetups
Following recent workshops, we're taking a moment to reflect on the joy of coming together. Heads up on New Year coaching and courses.
Hello writing friends,
We’ve had the joy of catching up with writers online and in real life over the past week.
While writing is often a solitary activity, there’s so much to be gained by coming together as writers. There’s a special creative magic - a sort of communal alchemy - that happens when people with similar goals and passions work alongside one another.
We may arrive with individual challenges, but by collaborating to explore opportunities and solve problems, our efforts grow into something greater than any one of us could achieve alone.
Our role is part community-builder, part facilitator and part mentor. We love bringing writers together to share and explore their challenges but have realised that JUST bringing writers together isn’t enough.
Over the years we’ve learned that community must be complemented with a practical, research-backed structure which addresses and solves the challenges you have - which is really what our little niche in the writing world is all about.
A joyful welcome to our member meetup last week 🙌❤️
And as this newsletter lands we’ll be live online hosting a Q&A with a network of academic writers.
Work with us this January
All of this is a roundabout way of announcing that if you’d like to experience some writing magic of your own, we’re hosting another writing RESET course in the New Year.
We’re really proud of RESET - our flagship coaching course - and the early bird waiting list is open now.
Over six weeks you learn how to become a more resilient, regular writer and we help you address the external distractions and internal doubts and fears that you may have. We also help you find a time-management method that works for you and develop some positive writing habits that, hopefully, you can use in the long term.
In short, it takes the key principles of our book Written and helps you apply them in a really practical, actionable way.
This year RESET is available in two ways:
An online course and community with live workshops where you can get immediate help from us. The price of this is £299.
The same as above but with add-on 121 coaching from either Chris or Bec. This option is great if you need more support and accountability. The price of this is £599.
You can get 20% off the cost of both when you join the waiting list.
All the start times, costs, and frequently asked questions can be found online. We should also mention that we’re only running RESET once in 2025 - we normally run it two or three times. This isn’t a marketing gimmick or anything, it’s just so we can concentrate on writing our next book which is taking WAY too long!
Anyhow, if you have any questions just message us or hit reply to this email and we’ll get right back to you.
Here’s what some lovely people in our last cohort said about their RESET experience:
'“Bec and Chris really know their stuff, and they really, really care. Each week builds on the previous one's focus, and in each week, I felt layers of overwhelm, confusion and doubt peel away. I truly feel that a foundation of knowledge and confidence had been laid and I'm excited to continue my writing journey from here.”
- Kursty Groves, author of I Wish I Worked There!, Spaces for Innovation and Workspace Made Easy
“In RESET, Bec and Chris provide a supportive, encouraging environment that sets writers free. There is freedom to experiment, fail, try again, or even to surprise oneself and succeed! I achieved the specific goals I'd set myself and have a new set of writing practice tools that will help me keep going into the future.”
- Michelle Geffken, creator of paperblogging.com
“The RESET course was just what I needed. I really appreciate that Bec and Chris don't tell you how to structure your writing practice. Instead, they give you the tools to examine what works and doesn't for you, and build a practice that matches your idiosyncrasies.”
- Paul Sturrock, non-fiction writer, creator of Niche Navigation, entrepreneur at ClimbWorks.
I think I’ve joined the waitlist already but I’ll double check. This year’s Writing Reset was so good and definitely got my writing year off to a happy start.
